There’s a CA marijuana law that was just passed by Schwarzenegger. The regulation makes weed slightly less illegal. The penalty for possession has been lowered by the brand new law. The regulation changes possession of small amounts to only a small fine. Formerly, the penalty was a fine plus a court appearance.

Governor Schwarzenegger signed a recent bill, titled SB 1449. The penalty of carrying less than an ounce of marijuana around went down with SB 1449. Right now, an individual could be fined up to $100 and is required to show up to court with a misdemeanor offence. The Los Angeles explains that the penalty will now only be a fine as of January 1, 2011. Proposition 19 is another proposal being looked at where it would be lawful to use marijuana for recreational purposes. Gov. Schwarzenegger opposes Prop 19, however he signed SB 1449 for practical reasons. It is a huge burden to courts to have too many cases in there. Also, it was a burden to regulation officials. Via the whole U.S., California’s medical weed laws are the most relaxed.
The bill is inadequate
Many dispute that marijuana is just an evil that should be avoided. It is really a quite flawed argument. Alcohol and tobacco are gateway drugs just as marijuana is. Whether or not that person uses marijuana first or not, somebody seeking drugs will find them. Marijuana also has an interesting criminalization history. This is an additional reason to suspect it should never are illegal. Benefits are few
We can see in history the effect regulation has. Obviously, individuals won’t follow the regulation if they don’t want to. Prohibition of alcohol within the early 20th century only enriched organized crime. Marijuana being illegal does the exact same thing. It just makes it harder on police. They have more to do to control people. Anyone who lived with the K.G.B or the Stasi looking over their shoulder can attest to the abhorrence of that experience. Nobody enjoys marijuana being illegal. It doesn’t benefit anyone.
